Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician, Non-Sterile Compounding – Memphis, TN. – (R-288535)

Weekly Schedule/Hours - M-F 11:30AM – 8PM CST

Description: This position is responsible for preparing bulk compounds, as needed, from all substances for which master formula cards or specific instructions from a pharmacist are available.

This position is for Enclara Pharmacia, a Humana company. Enclara, is a wholly owned hospice and palliative care pharmacy business acquired by Humana in 2021. Enclara is the nation’s largest full-service pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) specifically for the hospice and palliative care sectors. Serving over 450 customers and nearly 100,000 patients nationally, Enclara works closely with hospices to reduce pharmacy costs, improve patient care and support caregivers through: digital innovations, flexible medication access, one-on-one clinical support, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

INCREASE IN PAY: Humana has recently increased our starting pay minimums for this position!! If you are assessed as a qualified candidate, the recruitment team will discuss these exciting new competitive pay minimums!

Earn a $1,000 hiring bonus! Bonus is paid after 180 days of employment; you must be employed until that date to be eligible to receive the payment.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 11:30AM to 8:00PM CST

Location: Onsite in the Cordova/Bartlett TN area

Summary: Under the direction of a pharmacist, this position is responsible for preparing bulk compounds, as needed, from all substances for which master formula cards or specific instructions from a pharmacist are available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare Compounds:

  • Selects components
  • Computes quantities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain common and specialized instruments and equipment
  • Mix and blend substances
  • Review orders for compatibility and additives
  • Convert instructions to proper units and measures
  • Calculate the quantity of solution required based on concentration, dosage form, number of doses, and loss in processing.
  • Prepare additives in strict compliance with company standard operating procedures.

Maintain & follow proper procedures for compounding products:

  • Perform non-sterile compounding and pre-packing of stock including preparation of equipment, labels and worksheets, simple compounding procedures, packing and labeling of product, quality control procedures.
  • Perform calculation measures for compounding and complete compounding logs.
  • Assemble equipment and supplies necessary to compound bulk items.
  • Calibrate and maintain specific equipment needed to compound medications.
  • Compound all dosage forms.
  • Maintain compound audit trail.

Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels:

  • Maintain compound product inventory.
  • Maintain bulk compound stock.
  • Maintain knowledge of loss prevention techniques.

Assist in improving the quality of our work:

  • Seek ways to improve product stability and suitability.
  • Maintain clean work area.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications.
  • Assist in training new employees.

Assist others where needed:

  • Assist other pharmacy technicians.
  • Support Fulfillment dispensing and operations fulfillment as needed.

Additional Opportunities:

Qualifications:

  • Previous compounding experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, communication & mathematical skills required.
  • Knowledge of medication brands and generic names.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and calculations.
  • Ability to understand the importance of and respect the confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Self-starter.
  • Time management skills are a must.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a pharmacy.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Excel or experience with inventory management software systems is preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • National certification required
  • Active TN pharmacy technician license.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Accurately operate weight scales, and accurately pour and measure liquids.

Additional Information:

COVID 19 Vaccination: Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their homes to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
