EMI Services is hiring a Carpenter to support Camp Lejeune. The Carpenter will cut, fabricate and install wooden and other structures according to specifications. The ideal Carpenter will have experience working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. They will also have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings, and trim made of wood
• Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions, using a variety of carpenter's hand tools, portable power tools and standard measuring instruments
• Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work\
• Select materials necessary for the work
• Deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs
• Operate any industrial-size tools to complete all tasks i.e. table saws, band saws, planers, sanders, and routers
• Operate numerous equipment for the trade i.e. forklifts, scissor/man lifts, bobcat backhoe, etc.
• Read blueprints, construction drawings, schematics and diagrams as they pertain to the craft

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 4+ years of experience in the carpentry trades
• Ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted
• Possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests.
• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training and experience acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
• Expert knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials.
