BRANCH EXECUTIVE, YMCA OF JEFFERSON COUNTY Job at YMCA OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the direction and in consultation with the CEO, the Executive Director is responsible for all branch decision making and operations including supervision, volunteer management, fiscal management, financial development, membership and program administration, community relations and personal-professional development. Responsible for leading and growing a Program Center/Partial Facility with a budget of $1M+.
KNOW-HOW
Ability to lead assigned operations including staff development and supervision, development and monitoring of budgets, membership and program development, financial development, marketing and public relations, board and volunteer development.
Must have a thorough understanding of the nature of the YMCA movement, volunteers and staff in the accomplishments of the YMCA goals, objectives and mission in the community.
Must be highly motivated and possess a positive attitude towards the YMCA, character development and our mission.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent, is required.
YMCA Organizational Leader or Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.
Five or more years of successful management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
Strong business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth, annual giving and strong financial management.
Effective team-building and team leadership skills.
Superior communication skills- both written and verbal. Excellent customer relations skills required.
Be at least 21 years of age.
CPR & First Aid certification within 30 days of hire
Pass a comprehensive background check
Ability to relate well to children and adults in all circumstances
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Board Development - Recruits, maintains and engages a productive Board of Advisors.
Financial Development- Directs financial development initiatives and oversees Annual Campaign in support of branch programs and services.
Community engagement- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community by developing positive working and collaborative relationships with other organizations, businesses, and government entities. Actively participates in community events.
Staff Development- Responsible for overall supervision of the branch staff team. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and leads employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Direct reports include Aquatics Manager, Administration/Marketing Coordinator, Sports Coordinator, Meals Coordinator, Building Futures Coordinator and Family Resource Navigator.
Financial/Budget Management - Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
Strategic Planning- Using association-wide strategic plan and annual priorities/targets, develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
Association Leadership - Participates in association leadership meetings and disseminates information to branch staff. Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
Relationships - Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member/participant engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
Innovation - Fosters innovation and utilizes a human-centered design approach to develop programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
Safety - Ensures all program operations are consistent with association procedures, including emergency, Insurance, accident, purchasing, personnel, accounting and other administrative systems. Ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
Risk Management - Follows all standards, policies and procedures as established by the Olympic Peninsula YMCA, including Employee Code of Conduct, Child Abuse Reporting and Prevention, emergency procedures, and required program records.
Marketing/Communications - Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to Increase community awareness of Y programs and services.
Employee Management - Ensures compliance with all association personnel policies and procedures including recruiting, hiring, training, performance management, and wage/hour laws.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required and completes all on-line trainings which include child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
OUTCOMES AND POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
Annual Campaign targets are accomplished.
A high functioning and committed Board of Advisors.
Operating models are in place and consistently implemented for:
- Membership/Program Services
- Aquatics
- Employee Safety
- Facilities
- Youth Development Programming
Complete knowledge of operating details of programs and branch operations.
Timely action planning is in place (with effective end-results) for operating units and/or program areas that have performance concerns.
Branch staff are highly motivated, engaged and pursuing opportunity for improvement.
Branch staff are achieving goals and producing meaningful qualitative results.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
ENVIRONMENT
Office/fitness/aquatics environment with constant interruptions
Evening and/or early morning, and/or weekend hours required periodically
Occasional travel required
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this Job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
