This is responsible, specialized manual and clerical work in support of a large municipal garage. Work requires the prompt requisitioning and efficient receipt, storage, issuance, and recording of inventory used in the maintenance and repair of automotive and truck equipment; researching the internet, computer data bases and catalogues to determine source supply and interchangeability or substitution of parts; and the ability to understand related terminology and the correct application of diverse and constantly changing mechanical parts and equipment, and effectively communicate this information to others (via emails, telephone, or person to person).

Salary: $18.45 - $26.67 Hourly

To Qualify

Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:

  • Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.
  • Be detailed oriented and work well in a team environment.
  • Have experience as an automotive parts clerk or similar position.
  • Be able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Be able to communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
  • Be able to maintain written and computer records using a personal computer.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to work a shift schedule, 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Friday.
  • Be willing and able to work rotating Saturdays.
  • Be able to lift, pull, and push up to 70 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.

Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:

  • Have knowledge of refuse truck and commercial vehicle/equipment parts.
