Job Summary

This Research Associate with the working title of Associate Director will work closely with the Director to run the consortium of researchers called TEAMUP: Tandems for Efficient and Advanced Modules using Ultrastable Perovskites.

Who We Are

RASEI (pronounced RAY-see) is a joint institute between the CU Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) addressing meaningful, multifaceted problems in energy that require a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional approach. Our mission is to expedite solutions that transform energy by advancing renewable energy science, engineering, and analysis through research, education, and industry partnerships.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • The Associate Director (AD) will work closely with the Director to run the consortium.
  • The AD will schedule weekly videoconference meetings between the participants.
  • The AD will take input from the management team and work with an administrative assistant to run and an annual meeting that could have 40-100 participants.
  • The AD will assemble the quarterly, continuation and end of project reports for the Department of Energy. This task will include working with a financial specialist to submit the financial reports. Special attention must be given to ensuring that cost share requirements are met and that spending adjustments are made in time to comply with the budget. Content will come from three principal investigators at the University of Colorado and 7 subcontractors.
  • The AD will help ensure that the consortium meets its goals regarding Diversity, Equity and Inclusions. That will include coordinating with the University’s DEI office to organize training activities.
  • The AD will coordinate the Consortium’s outreach activities.
  • The AD will attend breakout sessions at the annual meeting and help write roadmaps for the perovskite solar cell industry or review articles on perovskite solar cell topics.
  • The AD is likely to participate in technoeconomic analysis of perovskite solar cells.
  • The AD will work with students to ensure that the lab used to make and characterize solar cells operates effectively and safely. The AD will host meetings with students from several research groups to make sure that the shared labs are being maintained and that safety rules are being followed.
  • The AD will help mentor the students to ensure that they are able to accomplish the project goals.
  • The AD will perform research described in the Consortium’s Statement of Proposed Objectives. In particular, the AD is likely to perform experiments with samples provided by partner companies.
  • The AD will assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for new projects. That could involve performing background research, for example, on recycling solar panels or finding the photovoltaic needs of the space industry.
  • The AD will occasionally teach for the Solar Cell course and might host office hours to work with students who need extra help.

What We Require

  • A PhD with research experience relevant to perovskite solar cells is required.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience mentoring graduate students is highly desirable.
  • Experience writing grant proposals and progress reports for federal funding agencies is highly desirable.
