Associate Position

North Branch Capital (NBC) is a Chatham New Jersey based, single-family investment office. NBC invests across a broad range of assets classes and makes investments in private and public companies, and with fund managers across all asset classes. This position offers an opportunity to be an integral member of a small, high-functioning team that values independent thinking, intellectual rigor and hard work.

Position Summary

The Associate reports directly to the investment team:

• Due Diligence – assisting in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of investments
• Investment Monitoring – assisting in the monitoring of investments, including analysis of results and exposures, review of investment reports and note taking
• Performance Reporting – preparing NBC performance reports (monthly and quarterly), including day-to-day oversight of systems/tools and interaction with service providers
• Portfolio Analysis – working with the investment team on the critical tools and analysis that support asset allocation, liquidity and cash management, and performance attribution
• Special Projects – assisting in special projects related to various markets, sectors and geographies
• Reporting – providing support in the creation of regular and ad-hoc materials for NBC’s Investment Committee

Qualifications

Qualifications for the position include:

• Outstanding integrity, judgment and work ethic
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with a track record of strong academic achievement
• 2+ years of prior work experience in a highly analytical role (relevant roles include asset management, accounting, consulting and banking)
• Superior analytical and quantitative skills
• Ability to work with detailed spread-sheets
• Working knowledge of basic accounting
• Excellent communication and listening skills, with ability to function well as part of a small team
• Ability to take initiative and work independently, at times, to drive various projects
• Interest in investing of all sorts

Compensation & Career Development

The Associate position comes with competitive compensation in the form of a salary and annual bonus. The Associate position is envisioned as a two to three-year position, with opportunity for further advancement dependent on performance and evolving organizational needs.
