Job Summary:
Oversee the quality of service provided at the Housekeeping, Front Desk, Concierge, Porter-Valet, and Arrival Pavilion departments. Coordinate the efforts of all these areas to best serve the guest, present and future.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operations of Housekeeping, Front Desk, Concierge, Porter-Valet, and Arrival Pavilion departments.
- Schedule staff at a level consistent with budget and hotel activity.
- Train, develop and motivate staff to meet and exceed established service standards.
- Counsel, discipline and evaluate staff. Hire, promote and terminate staff.
- Set policies and objectives for departments.
- Generate annual budget and related material, lead budget presentations and ensure managers are proficient on their individual areas prior to budget presentations.
- Serve as manager on duty for resort, when appropriate.
- Review monthly P&L, researching and reporting significant variances.
- Control labor and material costs, ensuring profitable operation.
- Interface with all departments to ensure that guests’ needs are met.
- Coordinate Out-Of-Order rooms for capital projects
- Understand and implement group resumes and billing requirements.
- Plan for group needs and requests. Acknowledge person in charge of group and work with them to coordinate arrangements.
- Handle special requests, complaints, and billing discrepancies; offer compensation where appropriate.
- Supervise posting and balancing of departmental charges and verify signatures. Deposit revenue with appropriate paperwork to accounting.
- Review weekly guest surveys and provide follow-up to General Manager.
- Coordinate temp hiring for Special Events
- Coordinate parking and traffic control around The Lodge Area for Special Events
- Coordinate furniture removal and put back for Special Events
- Be active in Team Leader management interviewing and hiring; working with resort counterparts attending Team Leader panel interviews and final hiring and rotational placement.
- Block rooms, including groups, VIP’s and special requests
- Coordinate and reconcile room availability, blocking, oversold categories in conjunction with Reservations, Sales, and other PBC hotels
- Coordinate the blocking and deep cleaning of guest rooms and public areas according to a pre-determined comprehensive plan.
- Inspect guest rooms on a regular basis.
- Coordinate monthly linen inventory and purchase in conjunction with other PBC hotels
- Establish and coordinate a well planned guest room preventative maintenance plan which results in minimal guest or financial impact.
- Interface with various departments, such as conference services and reservations to ensure accurate billing.
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or COO.
- Comply with all Pebble Beach Company safety and health policies and procedures.
Required Skills:
- Leadership, motivational, supervisory, time management and problem-solving skills required.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult people and situations in a professional manner.
Desired Skills:
- Two to four years hotel or resort experience with supervisory responsibilities required.
- Basic computer skills and previous experience with property management systems preferred.
- Obtain comprehensive understanding of the daily operations of the hotel while still maintaining a high level of world class service to all patrons.
- Responsible for managing the customer experience, educating and upselling guests on products and services.
