SUMMARY


The Area Operations Manager (AOM) is responsible for overall store performance within his/her district. Working with the District Manager, the AOM will create and help execute the overall vision for each, ensuring operational effectiveness. The AOM will champion Walker Auto & Truck’s Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), ensuring efficient and profitable stores. The AOM will work in collaboration with the District Manager, Area Sales Manager and Store Managers to achieve district goals and objectives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support Store Teams:
    • Coach and serve as a resource to store managers and teams to inspire success
    • Ensure that our customers are serviced by our store teams in a manner that makes them feel they are heard, appreciated, and part of the family
    • Train, coach, and mentor Store Manager to maximize profitability by effectively scheduling staff and monitoring store operations
    • Work with DM to communicate business objectives and provide relevant guidance to store teams
    • Create a culture of accountability by setting clear objectives for Store Managers to achieve key performance indicators
    • Provides consistent leadership and motivation to all district stores
    • Acknowledge store success and individual contributions within your district
    • Ensure strong relationships with customer base
    • Provide real-time assessments that speak to the progress of achieving established goals
    • Create and maintain a high energy, high performing district by reinforcing Walker company culture


  • Monitor Store Level Performance:
    • Supervise store processes to ensure accuracy and consistency
    • Monitor gross profit and work with Supply Chain to identify margin opportunities.
    • Work with Area Sales Manager ensure accurate market-driven pricing for new and existing accounts
    • Track current and upcoming sales to ensure appropriate stocking levels across the district. Work with the sales and purchasing departments on appropriate stocking levels and throughput
    • Manage district inventory processes and maintenance of other physical assets for greatest return
    • Monitor accuracy of district fixed asset listing
    • Ensure timely and effective communication throughout stores
    • Ask for employee’s feedback and input on store operations and customer interaction


  • Implement Standard Operating Procedure:
    • Ensure store managers comply with all employee policies and procedures
    • Ensure all resources are in place to support attainment of goals and objectives
    • Work with store managers to develop schedules that keep stores staffed at an appropriate level while limiting overtime
    • Provide coaching to Store Managers in timekeeping, leave and payroll procedures
    • Provides thorough and timely responses in assisting employees, answering questions, and responding to requests
    • Immediately address any lapses in compliance with corporate policies or local, state and federal laws
    • Ensure Store Manager is adhering to store standards as detailed in the SOP
    • Regularly conduct and participate in store-level and/or district meetings
    • Supervise districts use of P-Cards and fuel cards
    • Advise the District Manager on delivery fleet maintenance, rotations, and needed replacements
    • Coordinate and supervise class return and orders with the purchasing and inventory teams
    • Monitors and ensures the correct application of defects/cores/labor claims procedure in stores
    • Monitor stores for unsafe work hazards and works to fix identified areas
    • Lead the district’s implementation of asset protection and safety programs. Monitor stores for alarm usage and loss prevention procedures.
    • Maintain a Disaster Recovery Plan and review it quarterly with store managers within your District.
    • Represent the Walker and NAPA brand with integrity to customers, associates and business partners

  • Education and/or Experience:
    • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree, or equivalent experience.
    • Project management or operations experience preferred.


  • License/Certification:
    • Valid NC Driver’s License
