PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The role of the Agriculture Teacher is to provide instructional activities for all students interested in agriculture.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Vocational Agriculture with a Texas Teacher's Certificate:
Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources: Grades 6-12
Agriculture Science and Technology: Grades 6-12
Statement of Qualifications must be approved and on file with the Texas Education Agency
Ability to favorably meet the public

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

To provide students with a course of study in Agriculture related occupations and facilitate the students transition into the world of work.

• 
  To provide an effective and meaningful learning experience in agriculture through the use of varied materials, tools, equipment and teaching techniques.
• To demonstrate and maintain effective communication with students and promote a positive self-image in all students.
• To provide an opportunity for students to fully explore their interest in agriculture through field trips, resource personnel, O.J.T., and career counseling.
• To consistently develop written lesson plans for the implementation of instructional programs for the specific assignment in accordance with district guidelines and course objectives.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Supervise assigned teacher aide(s)

EQUIPMENT USED:

  A variety of farm and agriculture equipment, materials, and tools

  Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing; move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment; heavy lifting and carrying
