Calling all Rockstar Educators! After School Film & Media Creative Teachers needed immediately!

Rate: $50 - $100/hour (roughly 1 - 3 hours for $100/day in the afternoon)

Start Date: Weekly trainings to commence right away via zoom. Must be available to begin teaching courses September 12th - December 20th, 2022, opportunities for long term teaching and full-time opportunities

Location: Classes hosted in schools throughout Greater Boston, and Boston Proper area: Newtown, Cambridge, Wellesley, Somerville and more. Must have your own means of transportation.

Our after school program is a hands on maker experience designed to provide children with the opportunity to explore the art of film and animation through experimentation and play. We are seeking versatile, creative Teaching Artists who can Lead filmmaking and/or Animation after school classes throughout Boston as well as the Greater Boston area.

Film classes focus on the creative medium, using accessible equipment for elementary-aged children. Animation classes focus on prop and set building, and stop-motion animation. Classes are hands-on, child-driven, and super fun!

We hope to find someone who can join our team and bring a great deal of excitement, experience, and flexibility to the program.

After school class are offered to elementary-aged and Middle School students.

Schedule: A consistent schedule, 3 to 5 days a week, 1 - 2.5 hours a day in the afternoons from roughly 3 - 5pm. $80 - 100/day based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Lead a CinemaKidz after school class that teaches the basic tenets of filmmaking, animation, or hands-on media arts to children in grades 1 through 8.
• Follow along with the curriculum and syllabus for each class, and also bring fresh ideas to the class.
• Flexibility and creativity to add to and further develop programs and curricula for children
• Set up and breakdown materials in preparation for the classes as needed.
• Responsible for managing, taking care of a duffel bags worth of materials used in each class
• Stay in communication with administrative staff and leadership team before and after each class
• Upload content from each class afterwards onto Google Drive
• Communicate regularly with CK staff, fill out progress reports and other communication forms as necessary
• Check in and check out with the CK team for each class

Experience:

• Must be fully vaccinated by September
• Must have at least 2+ years experience teaching elementary/middle school aged children
• Must have solid understanding of filmmaking and/or animation
• Ability to successfully manage a group of 8-10 children alone
• Experience working in an after school and/or educational setting preferred
• Must be familiar and very comfortable with various media apps, technology, and cloud based programs, especially Apple products
• Energetic, and positive demeanor, and ability to connect with children
• Must be able to commit to the full semester, bonuses and full time opportunities available for the right person
• Must arrive on time, and have a professional demeanor
• Must be able to submit to and pass any background forms as per the company and school in order to work with children. CORI, SORI, and fingerprinting appointments required
