The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting POET’s accounting functions, including; accounting team member development, financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, process development, and internal control compliance. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the reporting process that provides value added information and analysis for internal customers and executive management, driving continuous improvement for operations. Collaboration with business operations and strong leadership and development of accounting staff are key components of this role.
DURING A TYPICAL DAY
- Partnering with and providing information, including insight and suggestions for improvement, to business operations and finance leadership team members, supporting day to day needs and key business initiatives
- Leadership, recruitment, hiring, and training of accounting team members - delegating, coaching, managing performance and career development in order to effectively execute departmental strategies and support company objectives
- Clearly communicating financial results and relevant drivers to business and finance leadership team members, focused on business performance with actionable takeaways – “telling the story behind the numbers”
- Setting clear expectations with team members and fostering a trusting culture of teamwork and individual accountability
- Collaborating with IT to drive solutions for reporting and system improvements focused on business priorities and process efficiency
- Accounting policy and procedure development, focused on efficient processes that drive accuracy and result in valuable information for the business
- Interfacing with external auditors to provide support and answer questions as needed

- You have 7+ years of professional experience, including leading others and financial analysis.
- You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and are capable of learning new programs and software.
