Youth Specialist
Reports to: Children’s Services Program Director
Location: 1603 Court Street, Syracuse, NY 13208
Part Time: Schedule flexible around participants needs (15 hours/week)
Non-Exempt: $17.00/hour

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.
About the Role
We are looking for a proactive employee to provide person centered services and supports to children and their family during Children’s Home and Community Based Services (H) and Office of People with Developmental Disabilities services.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting and assisting child with Activities of Daily Living, which we refer to as ADL
- Implementing behavioral support plans and guidelines
- Offering choices and opportunities for child to engage in within the community
- Monitoring and maintaining the safety of the child while in the home, community, and during transportation
Education & Experience
High school diploma/GED required. Experience working with children with a Developmental Disability/Acquired Brain Injury (DD/ABI) or a mental health diagnosis preferred. Experience working with children with behavioral needs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate teamwork and professionalism. Basic word process and e-mail skills required.
Conditions of Employment
Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Travel outside of Onondaga County may be required at times. Must be willing to visit children and families in their home setting. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, and demonstrate direct care duties including personal assistance.
