POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Program Director, Youth Development, Gym Monitors will supervise the gymnasium/designated area during youth and adult sports programs at the Clark County Family YMCA. There are additional opportunities to monitor courts at community partner gymnasiums as well. Gym Monitors will serve as the main point of contact for all volunteers, parents and participants.

Essential Functions

  • Arrive prior to start of program to set up and prepare gym
  • Attentive and accessible to each person entering the gym
  • Record game scores at the end of each scheduled game time
  • Clear and prompt communication with all coaches, program participants, and volunteers
  • Be proactive in cleaning and sanitizing courts between games and/or practices
  • Assume responsibility in emergency situations, follow site emergency procedures
  • Proper documentation of accidents/incidents (injuries, broken equipment, etc.)
  • Clear and prompt communication with supervisor, participants, and peers
  • Provide necessary equipment for programs

Additional Functions:

  • Participate in all required Regional Staff meetings and functions
  • Ability to work well in high stress situations, responding properly to critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergency situations
  • Must be able to establish harmonious relations with staff team, volunteers, school districts, and local partners
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation
  • Knowledgeable of programs monitored
Requirements:


REQUIREMENTS

  • Must pass YMCA background check
  • CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to acquire certifications within 30 days of employment
  • Prior work experience with Youth Sports players and parents preferred
  • Reliable transportation to travel to sites in the North Region
  • Attire: Clean ‘nice’ bottoms (sweats, shorts, jeans, pants), staff shirt and name tag
