The UCPath Center is the University of California's shared services center in Riverside, CA. The UCPath Center manages the payroll, benefits, and other human resources transactions for more than 200,000 UC employees working across ten UC campuses, five medical centers, three national labs and more. POSITION SUMMARY

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organizational policies and procedures. Resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

Applies human resources (HR) and Workforce Administration (WFA) business process analysis, professional HR and Compensation concepts as well as department/unit and campus policies and procedures to resolve a variety of business process problems and to make recommendations for system and process improvement. Works on business process issues of moderate to complex scope where evaluation of processes, procedures and data requires analysis using a variety of factors.

SYSTEM SUPPORT, TESTING, AND CONFIGURATION

Works closely with other department members and ITSS to support the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management system for HR/ WFA related processes.

This position will serve as the UCPath Center subject matter expert (SME) for the Workforce Administration, Compensation Administration, Absence Management and Position Management modules within UCPath.

This position will also serve as UCPath Center SME for all HR, Leave of Absence and Compensation customizations and vendor processes.

Analyze processes and identify system discrepancies related to Primary Job Derivation, Paygroup assignment, Mass Compensation processing and other HR/ WFA related customized batch processes that run to no success or produce errors. Will review error logs and record system issues and develop and implement solutions.

Coordinates testing process for system changes to include scheduling test cycles with the appropriate parties, obtaining testers and applicable test database access, and translates business requirements into test cases. Executes testing according to testing plan and communicates results to required parties. Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing.

Coordinates and performs table and configuration maintenance within the HR/ WFA department modules and tables.

Use in-depth knowledge of HR/ WFA business processes and rules to communicate system needs and requirements.

Assists with data analysis to find trends or indications of potential issues and provides support for processing and troubleshooting changes within the UCPath system.

Creates and edits queries for data audits, testing validation and troubleshooting issues.

Assess new functionality as it is released and advise the UCPath Center leadership on the use of new functionality to improve business operations.

BUSINESS AND SYSTEM ANALYSIS

Provides and applies technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing complex systems and procedures. Creates complex specifications for systems to meet end-user requirements. Involved in developing complex user interface designs. Plans and executes unit integration and acceptance testing.

Participates in cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues.

Identifies gaps in business processes and system functionality and works with the necessary parties to recommend and implement system changes.

Monitors policy and rate changes to update business process and system modifications to salary plan and grade tables, including the preparation of Business Requirement Documents. Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for approval of business process and procedural documentation. Recommends and implements changes in processes and procedures.

Stays current on configuration changes needed to implement upcoming mass wage implementations as well as salary plan, department and table requirements.

Creates and updates testing scripts when implementing enhancements and/or during the migration process for system defects.

Provides knowledge transfer to WFA Workstreams on business process and system changes.

Review existing business processes, assist operational groups with identifying inefficiencies, enhance quality control standards and recommend optimal solutions for process improvement.

Provides project management support between WFA teams and ITSS as required.

Creates, tracks, manages, and drives all business process defects to full resolution via workarounds and incidents. Uses internal tracking tools to maintain a current status of issues. Partners with ITSS department to ensure effective and timely resolution of all workarounds, change requests and incidents. Consults with WFA department supervisors and manager to ensure defects, workarounds, and incidents are managed according to specific business/process need.

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant HCM system experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise critical judgment in defining and developing system requirements and implementing polices and processes. Ability to promote and implement changes to current practices and processes.
  • Ability to provide high quality work utilizing highly developed and effective communication, project management, time management and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, streamline and accomplish assigned projects. Ability to maintain flexibility and quickly address changing priorities.

Ability to think strategically and focus on the accomplishment of the UCPath Center mission and priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Has a thorough knowledge of modules in PeopleSoft related to Workforce Administration, Compensation Administration, Absence Management and Position Management. Understanding of the system structure and modifications and how they impact operations and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of UC personnel and payroll policies and procedures.
  • Experience with configuration rules and tables updates. Understanding of the interdependencies between PeopleSoft modules.
  • Experience and proficiency in the PeopleSoft HCM 9.2.
  • In depth knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Resources/ Workforce Administration, Absence Management, Position Management, and Compensation Administration Modules.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, computer science, or related field.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: The recommended salary range is $84,000 - $96,200. Commensurate with experience.
