Borinquen Medical Centers is based in Miami, Fl and is seeking to hire a full-time Women's Care Specialist (WCS). This position will support the Women’s Health department and all Clinical operations. In addition, The Women’s Care Specialist will support the proper delivery of ambulatory health care and participating in the day to day operations with the patient care team. The WCS will aide the Quality Department ensuring that standards of care are followed.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients; Assists with direct patient care procedures and related tasks; checks in patients, assists in obtaining patient histories, takes vital signs, prepares charts, and assists with medical examinations.
  • Assists with Front Desk staff, Interviews in-coming patients for medical, psychiatric, and/or hospital care to obtain demographic information, authorizations for treatment, and related information and consent. Provide coverage as needed.
  • Maintains stocks of medical supplies as necessary in the exam rooms.
  • Confirms patient services needed, schedules appointments with providers.
  • Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.
  • Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician; Interviews patients measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, pain scale), including LMP and week of pregnancy when applicable; Perform finger sticks, pregnancy tests, rapid flu or strep, urine dipsticks; Performs in house testing controls and maintains control log.
  • Fills out required forms for special programs specific to Women’s Health.
  • Track and act as Liaison with Florida Department of Health projects.
  • Performs standing orders as approved by department and in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Records Quality and HEDIS measures in electronic record.
  • Administers basic immunizations when approved by physician including proper immediate documentation.
  • Works and completes tasks in electronic medical record system in a timely manner; Translate when necessary.
  • Triage walk in patients, assess, report findings to supervising provider on OBGYN floor.
  • Manage EDD report, review on weekly basis, schedule post-partum visits when needed for all Women’s Health sites.
  • Schedule ordered C-sections/Inductions for delivering providers
  • Maintains high risk OB log for all sites; Maintains temperature log for vaccine refrigerator; Maintains weekly gas log for OBGYN main site.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant certificate or higher is required
  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; Ability to interact effectively with consumers, administration, faculty, and staff.
