As a Water Analyst, you will:

  • Collect, analyze, document, and interpret water samples from the water treatment systems to verify compliance and conformance.
  • Regularly inspect water treatment mechanical equipment and identify problems.
  • Complete routine and preventive maintenance and calibration of water treatment systems and chemical feed controls.
  • Identify, diagnose, and correct program and system deficiencies and failures, and analyze relevant data to predict and initiate pro-active repair of water testing and treatment processes and equipment.
  • Develop and implement various procedures, logs, worksheets, and operator logs for water and water treatment systems.
  • Assist in the administration of the backflow testing treatment program.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory for necessary supplies.
  • Act as the functional expert on campus for water treatment.
  • Develop and propose program-wide operational and equipment plans and designs to ensure effective, efficient, economical, and state-of-the-art water testing and treatment for conditioned and pure water systems.
  • Plan, design, recommend, and execute chemistry programs that are required to: maintain water quality within regulations; to maintain systems and equipment reliability and capacity; and to prevent/reduce component corrosion and the resulting forced outages and maintenance costs.
  • Plan, design, recommend, and install water treatment equipment including reverse osmosis, deionized water, and soft water systems based on systems requirements.
  • Plan, design, recommend, execute, and oversee the execution and quality of policies, procedures, schedules, and techniques associated with the day-to-day operation of water treatment and quality.

What you bring to the position (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent education/experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science or other related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years experience of water treatment that includes installing, inspecting, diagnosing, and/or servicing water softeners, domestic, and pure water systems, maintaining and/or troubleshooting reverse osmosis and distilled water and using testing techniques, analysis, diagnostics, and successful remediation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently allocate resources to achieve thoroughness and accuracy to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to work and move around machinery and electricity.
  • Ability to learn and act on new technical and/or complex information quickly.
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify issues, alternative solutions, conclusions, and/or approaches to problems.
  • Skilled utilizing technology.
  • Good communication, record keeping, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable of general safety and hazardous material management practices for industrial water treatment chemicals.
  • Knowledgeable in maintaining a financial budget.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligible to operate University vehicles.

This position must be available by phone to address work-related issues and may be required to perform work in addition to and outside of the normal scheduled shift.
