Job Title: Wastewater Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with all

environmental regulations

Planning, directing, scheduling,

and supervising the operations of the wastewater treatment plant and

laboratory; overseeing and participating in the preparation and maintenance of

appropriate records, and DMR reports

Schedules, assigns and supervises

all personnel engaged in the operation and maintenance of the wastewater

treatment plant, pump stations, sludge operation and laboratory operations

Plans and oversees the plant

maintenance program; deals with vendors to obtain parts and supplies

Conducts routine sampling and

field testing of water and/or wastewater

Compiles data for chemical use

and keeps records on equipment and plant operations

Prepares reports on plant and

pump station operations for submission to superiors and regulatory agencies

Oversees training activities and maintains employee training records to comply with company safety programs

Develops and enforces plant safety and other procedures and regulations

Physical Requirements:

Extensive mobility and excellent

physical condition; ability to lift 75 lbs.; ability to operate all necessary

hand tools; ability to kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, etc. to reach items in need

of repair; tolerance to all extreme weather conditions, such as very hot or

very cold temperatures

Skills and Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of facility

operations, people, products, and equipment

Knowledge of federal, state, and

local requirements and guidelines necessary to operating wastewater plant

Financial analytical skills to

estimate costs, do cost-benefit analyses, and investigate reports

Possession of a Class 1

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia

Comprehensive knowledge of the theory and processes of modern wastewater treatment, of the machines

Comprehensive knowledge of the chemical and physical processes involved in sludge treatment, mechanical and hydraulic engineering principles involved in plant operation

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, County and regulatory agency officials and the general public.
