Warehouse Supervisor
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the daily administration and operation of the Garlock Houston warehouse. Oversee materials are received, stored, shipped and reported in accordance with established procedures. Direct and supervise warehouse staff. Review effectiveness of operating procedures, maintenance, space utilization and protection of equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily scheduling of warehouse personnel to ensure proper manning in order to ship and receive products in a productive and cost-efficient manner.
- Direct the day-to-day activities of the warehouse. Such activities include shipping, receiving, maintenance, inventory control, etc.
- Sets goals and daily productivity expectations while maintaining a positive and collaborative culture built on employee respect; ensures team resources are used effectively and both productivity and profitability targets are achieved.
- Deliver effective change leadership while driving business changes and minimizing people impact.
- Oversee the rotation of inventories within the warehouse adhering to FIFO requirements and contribute to warehouse organization.
- Lead the cycle count program and year-end physical inventory counts by researching and resolving discrepancies and by ensuring timely management and approval of adjustments
- Establish strong processes to ensure inventory accuracy discipline for both volume and location.
- Oversees associate cross-training initiatives; collaborates with the training department for new training initiatives.
- Leverage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to make ongoing improvements and enhancements.
- Work with logistics providers, freight forwarders and internal teams to monitor freight spend, approve invoices, review metrics, optimize distribution costs and monitor trade compliance
- Participates in on-going process improvement initiatives; monitors the effectiveness of handling procedures and space utilization and makes recommendations for improvements.
- Drive compliance with safety, quality and productivity goals in support of warehouse leadership team objectives.
- Responsible for maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventive maintenance programs and communicating all necessary repairs to the Manufacturing Engineering/Facilities Manager. Ensure that the warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment in order to perform the distribution functions.
- Responsible for warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees and within the regulations of all OSHA local and state regulations.
- Ensure compliance with and adherence to timekeeping and payroll policies.
- Flexibility to work weekends or overtime as required in order to meet business demands.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- 2 years of relevant distribution management/leadership experience
- Strong ability to communicate effectively (written & verbal), with excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
- Highly organized and process orientated.
- Ability to multi-task effectively.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exemplifies strong ownership over projects from start to finish.
- Cross-functional collaboration.
