Wayland Animal Clinic is a privately owned multi-doctor practice located less than 30 minutes from Boston and just off Rt 9, Rt 30, and the Pike in Wayland, MA. We are a busy small animal and exotics veterinary practice that has been serving the local community for over 40 years. We are seeking a full-time receptionist/technician assistant to join our front desk staff. Our mission is to make it easy for our clients to provide outstanding care and longevity for their pets. We are looking for someone who is not only passionate about animals but someone who is equally enthusiastic about helping owners. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Phone Triage – When a client calls, you will help them understand the urgency of their pets’ needs and communicate next steps
  • Greeting Clients – Greet our clients and make them and their pets feel welcome and comfortable when they arrive for appointments
  • Manage Prescription Refills & Requests – Process prescription refills for clients
  • Client / Doctor Communications – Clearly communicate client messages and questions to doctors. Contact clients for appointment reminders and follow-up.
  • Client Education – Be a resource for our clients and make sure that they never go home with any unanswered questions
  • Clerical / Operational – Includes general filing, answering phones, receiving/sending packages, etc.
  • Assist doctors/technicians by restraining pets for exams, blood draws, nail trims, and other procedures
  • Assist doctors in rooms with patients
  • General housekeeping/cleaning/stocking inventory
  • Caring for hospitalized patients such as assisting with treatments, cage cleaning, feeding, and walking dogs

  • Client-facing experience and enthusiasm for understanding their needs and solving their problems
  • Professional and warm demeanor
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to remain calm and organized while working in a busy environment
  • Friendly, personable, and able to assist clients in a variety of situations
  • Confident around animals
  • Willingness to learn
