Our fast-paced animal clinic looking to add veterinary assistants to our dynamic team! Previous animal handling experience is a must. Full-time and part-time positions available. Benefits available for Full-time employees. Emergency shifts available but not required. Required: Must be available to work 3 Saturdays per month.
General Responsibilities
- Assisting/Supporting Veterinarians and Registered Vet Techs
- Pulling Clients/Patients into rooms
- Going over medical history/ starting exam notes
- Going over vaccine protocols
- Invoicing services being performed (injections, meds, food, ets.)
- Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
- Drawing blood
- Assisting with X-rays/ultrasounds
- Nail trims, anal gland expressions, ear cleaning, etc.
- Soothe upset or frightened animals
- Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians
- Observe animal behavior or health condition and report to the Vet
- Help in cases of emergencies
- Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments
- Keep accurate records and logs
- Filling medications
- Drawing up vaccines and other injectable drugs
- Stocking, organizing, cleaning
- Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues
- Advise pet owners on importance of prevention, nutrition, and healthcare
- Going over surgical discharge information
- Explaining medications
- Billing out clients at the end of visits
