Vehicle Detailer
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under supervision of the Shop Manager, performs various tasks including washing and polishing the exterior and cleaning the interior of vehicles, and picking up and dropping off automotive parts and materials.

TYPICAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Moves vehicle to and from parking areas, wash bays and other designated cleaning areas. Measures and mixes water and cleanser solutions according to recommended proportions. Washes exterior of vehicles using water, cleansers, brushes, sponges, etc. Removes excess moisture with chamois or other absorbent cloth. Polishes trim using polish, wax or other compounds. Compounds, waxes and buffs exterior painted surfaces of vehicles using waxes, polishes or other compounds in combination with manual and power equipment such as buffers, waxers, etc. Cleans interior of vehicle including windows, trim, instrument panels, carpets, etc. using broom, cloth, mop, vacuum cleaner, whiskbroom and appropriate cleansing materials. Removes dust, grease, asphalt, concrete, etc. from exterior of vehicle using steam-cleaning equipment, or appropriate solvents. May be required to fumigate vehicles with gases or sprays as needed. Delivers inter-office messages, small equipment, parts, materials, supplies or other items between departments. Installs and/or removes vehicle items such as striping, chrome, tags, etc. Also may be required to perform other related duties as requested.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: No formal education required.
Experience: Minimum six months of hands on experience detailing automotive vehicles.
Skill at: Detailing automobiles and vans.
Knowledge of: Use and care of cleaning equipment, supplies, materials, machines; and safe work practices.
Licenses: Valid Florida Driver’s License with a good driving record, I.E. must have fewer than the following number of points on his/her motor vehicle record for the previous 1, 2, and 3 years respectively: 3 points, 6 points, and 9 points.
Special Requirements: MUST BE NON TOBACCO USER.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
o Must be able to obtain access to interior and exterior surfaces of vehicle with vehicle in any position.
o Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for moving vehicles to and from parking areas and wash bays
o Must be able to sustain a work load consisting of exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally (occurring up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently (occurring 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly (occurring 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects.
o Must be able to comprehend and perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Must also be able to perform operations with units such as ounces, pounds, cups, pints, quarts, and gallons for measuring and/or mixing of cleansers, solvents, etc.
o Must be able to read and comprehend safety rules, warning labels and instructions in the safe use and handling of cleansers, solvents, chemicals or other shop materials, tools, equipment or supplies.
o Must be able to use body members, hand tools and/or special devices to work or move objects or materials.
