Truck and Fleet Maintenance
Responsible Container is a St. Louis locally owned recycling company. We are a young and growing company and looking to hire a Truck and Trailer Maintenance Technician with a CDL (optional).

Our Company's regular hours of operation are from 7:00 am until 4:15 PM Monday thru Thursday and 7:00 am until 12:00 pm on Friday.

Tasks

  • Maintains production and quality by ensuring proper operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
  • Perform general truck and trailer maintenance (corrective and preventive) and troubleshooting including equipment repair, brakes, tires, trailer doors, etc.
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management for the betterment of Tractor Service operations
  • Experience with Tractor Trailer repairs and maintenance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and technical school certificate
  • Three (3)- Five (5) years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with welding, machine shop, and fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of:
  • Tractor-trailer brake systems
  • Semi-truck repairs
  • Repairing/rebuilding dry van swing doors
  • Mathematics and English comprehension
  • Machine diagnostics
  • Safety policies and procedures as well as health and environmental rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of diesel and gas engines
  • Skills in:
  • Fabricating repair parts by using machine shop tools and equipment
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Mechanical/ hydraulic and pneumatics concepts related to Tractor and Semi-trailer equipment
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Reading drawings, service manuals, and blueprints
  • Ability to:
  • Work in extreme cold and heat
  • Comprehend oral and written English instruction
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in a safe and efficient manner
  • Follow established policies and procedures
  • Work independently within a team environment to assist others as needed
  • Operate and maintain a wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
  • Exhibit manual dexterity, flexibility, and be able to move with a purpose
  • Adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
  • Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
  • Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required

  • Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
  • Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
  • Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering, and exhausts
  • Repairing or replacing, brakes, engines, and other associated parts
  • Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
  • Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
  • Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment, and brake checks
  • Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
