A clear leader in specialty underground construction, Schnabel is looking for a structural welder with piledriving experience. We are a very busy national contractor that has roots dating back to 1959. We are in a state of hyper growth and adding quality welders that can help drive piles is an area of focus.

Our typical scope of work includes installation of piles, lagging, walers, braces, and more for support of excavation projects. You should have experience with heavy civil, bridges, or marine projects to be considered. Preference to those with direct industry experience with deep foundation projects.

THIS IS A FIELD STRUCTURAL WELDING POSITION. Applicants should posses at least 5 years of field welding experience with structural certs.

As a structural welder you will either be part of a piledrivers/carpenters union or join one. You will be an integral part of our team on site and responsible for welding steel beams, steel plates, and other miscellaneous metals while performing basic piledriving duties.

As a construction welder…

• Must be proficient in the use of hand and power tools
• Unloads and assembles pile driving hammer and leads.
• Unloads various types of piling- concrete, pipe, H-piling, timber, and steel sheet piling
• Fuels, lubricants, and maintains the pile driving hammer
• Uses oxygen/acetylene welding torch to cut steel plates, pipes, beams, etc.
• Prepares the piling to be driven and assists in positioning and driving piling
• Responsible for on-site structural welding that will be visually & X-ray inspected

• Ability to read and interpret plans and schematics
• Minimum of 2 years of documented experience in a structural welding role
• Certified structural welder with a D1.1. Or the ability to pass required weld tests
• Ability to lift and carry 80 pounds of materials when necessary
• Local and regional travel as required for projects
• High school diploma or equivalent
