Travel Professional Counselor (Mental Health Clinician)

The Mental Health Clinician (MHC) is responsible to provide the counseling services to an assigned caseload of unaccompanied children (UCs) at an on-site children's residential facility. Functions as the liaison with other MHCs and Case Management and any other onsite vendors. This position is responsible for ensuring contractual requirements and client expectations are met at the on-site residential facility.

Location: Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX

  SHELTER-WIDE BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be fluent in Spanish & English.
• Minimum age of 21 years or older.
• Clean criminal background check.
• Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or child protective services check.
• Clean drug test results

Reports to:

• Lead Mental Health Clinician

Principle Accountabilities:

• Ensures that all ORR policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Conducts and documents mental health assessments for all children in care as well as provide ongoing individual and group counseling in accordance with ORR policies and procedures.
• Screens for human trafficking concerns.
• Ensures quality care for all unaccompanied children (UC) residents and timely response to UCs needs, including crisis intervention.
• Provides weekly counseling to assigned caseload.
• Provides group therapy/community group meetings.
• Coordinate caseload with assigned case managers and lead case managers.
• Provides reports needed to supervisor.
• Attends internal and external meetings.
• Maintains the UC case file and ORR database in accordance with ORR policies and procedures.
• Reports significant incidents in accordance with ORR policies and procedures.
• Follows up on all Significant Incident Reports (SIRs).

Other Duties:

• Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy.
• Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
• Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
• Encourages co-workers to work safely.
• Identifies close calls and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned within your scope of work and responsibility. To include some Youth Care Worker duties.
• Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.

Additional Requirements & Education (May include more/less):

• Masters degree in social work, psychology, sociology or other relevant behavioral science in which clinical experience is a program requirement.
• 1 year of clinical experience with children or adolescents.
• Fully licensed in any clinical counseling field in any US State or Territory (Licensed Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, LISW, LMSW, LMFT, etc.)

OR

• Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, sociology or other relevant behavioral science with 5 years experience
• Fully licensed in any clinical counseling field in any US State or Territory (LCDC, LBSW, etc.)
• Flexibility and willingness to travel as needed.
• Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication skills required.
• Proficiency with computer, common office equipment, and MS Office products required.

Background Requirement:

• Background must be CLEAR

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

• 2 years of clinical experience with adolescents.
• Experience with the assessment of trauma, abuse or human trafficking.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day
• Must be willing to work over time if necessary
• Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs
• Must be able to walk significant distances on uneven terrain outdoors when required
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet
• Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders
• Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
• Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
• Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
• Clean Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) or child protective services check
• Must complete Urine Drug Screen
