General Summary:
In this role you will be a critical contributor in our food distribution process by ensuring routes are prepared at the beginning of the day and closed out at the end of the day. You have a strong attention for detail, have the vision of an air-traffic controller, and can coordinate multiple activities to make the lives of internal and external customers better. You operate with a high sense of urgency, and have the ability to handle stress, calm others and make magic happen. You review your driver’s daily activities, make recommendations for future planning, take and provide driver feedback and work to make the driver/customer experience a success. You lead driver meetings as needed, coordinate schedules, and assure all processes are followed as needed. Verify all equipment needed is in good working order, and repairs are made and drivers are set up for success.
What You’ll Do:

- Supervise and own the coordination of daily transportation activities.
- Supervise and lead various facets of safety including training, policy adherence, accident reporting compliance, and the investigative processes.
- Participate in employee selection, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, performance evaluations and overall supervision of the team.
- Prepare schedules, track attendance, manage/approve/deny PTO, and verify time card accuracy for all team members/Delivery Drivers.
- Ensure Drivers consistently execute all necessary activities such as; pre/post trip DVIRs, paperwork, utilize proper technology, and provide feedback and anything else necessary to complete the day and prepare them for the following day.
- Review daily activity, make recommendations for future route planning with positive suggestions and ideas to the Transportation Router, take and provide driver feedback and work to make the overall driver/customer experience better.
- Ensure drivers are engaged and accountable to performance as the valued business partners they are.
- Supervise all location activities verifying all company and government policies and procedures are followed.
What You’ll Bring to the Table:

- Ability to see the full landscape, plan a successful workflow, and use resources effectively.
- Minimum 1 year of Delivery Driver experience in either LTL or small package environment.
- Current DOT medical card for truck moves and deliveries.
- Proficient in DOT Hours of Service rules and regulations, as well as ELD software such as Samsara (preferred), PeopleNet, Omnitracs, etc.
- PC Skills to create communications in various Microsoft Office programs, as well as proficiency in MS Teams and ADP.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for excellence.
- Experience with powered lift equipment (forklift, pallet jack, etc).
- Desire to assess situations, determine a course of action, and relay that opinion based on facts.
- Strong communication skills – the ability to speak effectively and efficiently is essential to your success.
- Experience in Produce Pro software or an AS 400 platform highly desirable.
- A passion for leading people, the courage to handle difficult situations, as well as courage to solicit feedback and deploy solutions that set drivers up for success.
- Ability to successfully dispatch drivers, conduct pre-shift meetings, and adjust as necessary.
- Ability to interact with external customers professionally to seek solutions and process changes to help the customer and Foster Caviness for the win-win!
- Ability to assess and manage fleet of trucks according to DOT standards. Work with external service companies to maintain the best fleet for your drivers!
