General Job Description
Requires warehouse work consisting of operating a customer service counter, receiving and making deliveries, inventory control and stocking shelves. Loading and unloading equipment onto trucks and trailers, attaching trailers to trucks. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Due to the complexity of the Fire-Rescue Department, Trades Workers assigned duties may change daily. This is a physically demanding position which will include routinely lifting/moving heavy objects. This position requires the applicant to be in good physical condition. The applicant must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Reports to Fire Captain/Logistics Officer.
Duties for this Position
- Operates vehicles, including forklifts and pallet jacks - Read and interpret drawings - Give and interpret oral and written directions - Work with others, and independently - Operation of maintenance equipment, pallet jacks, and powered pallet lifters - Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, and extended work periods during storm/weather events - Assist in equipment repairs and appliance installation - Complete operational forms and work records - Work with computers, printers, scanners and inventory control systems - Performs other duties as required
Position Minimum Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED - Must be detail-oriented - Must be organized - Must be in good physical condition - Abiity to obtain CPR and Basic First Aid Certifications - Ability to safely drive large vehicles and pull trailers - Valid South Carolina driver's license is required (CDL preferred) - Must be available to work extended work house during special events, storms and as needed to support the mission of the Fire Rescue Department - Basic computer skills required, strong skills preferred - General knowledge of Fire/EMS supplies and equipment is preferred - Must pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical & drug screening - Ability to frequently lift 75 pounds unassisted and 150 pounds assisted - Push, pull and lift on a repetitive basis - Pass annual physical exam
