Tipper/Inserter Technician, Position No. 01244 Job at Virginia Dept of Motor Vehicles
DMV is looking to hire a Tipper/Inserter Technician who will be responsible for operating an automated on-line processing/inserting equipment. This position is a technical position that ensures that all out going mail is folded and inserted into the proper envelopes to DMV customers. Duties are to operate equipment and analyze and solve operational and equipment problems in accordance with written and oral directions; to understand and apply complex written material such as technical equipment manuals. The inserter operation is a essential part of DMV.
To be successful in this position, the selected candidate will need some knowledge of postal regulations and procedures; business mathematics and office operational principals; and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. The incumbent must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent must possess:
- Working knowledge of automated on-line processing/inserting equipment and personal computers.
- Demonstrated ability to operate equipment and analyze and solve operational and equipment problems in accordance with written and oral directions; to understand and apply complex written material such as technical equipment manuals.
- Some knowledge of postal regulations and procedures; business mathematics and office operational principals.
- The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- The ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Pitney Bowes 9 series Inserter and Tipper Inserter and/or Quadient inserter machines.
- Understanding of how barcodes work.
