Technology Director
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, the Tech Director is the sole technology person for the Custer County School District. This role requires day-to-day user management as well as integrations with a variety of educational content vendors. The position also entails providing professional development and support to teachers and staff as they integrate technology in the classroom..
Essential Functions;
? Provide real-time tech support for students, teachers, staff, and administration with technology throughout the schools.
? Ensure that teachers and students have the correct apps and web pages that they need to access the curriculum and online systems.
? Maintain content filters on all devices to protect student and staff data and privacy.
? Maintain PCs and laptops for administrators, teachers, staff, and students.
? Repair and replace devices that are damaged or non-functional throughout the building.
? Interact with customer support from vendors to troubleshoot issues throughout the building.
? Manage the deployment, use, and data management of state testing systems, including CMAS, NWEA, Dibels, and others.
? Maintain and improve building-wide infrastructure systems including phones, alarms, projectors, printers, computer networks, and cameras.
? Track inventory for all devices owned by the Custer County School District.
? Teach teachers and students new software/hardware/tech concepts as needed.
Ongoing Activities:
? Create and maintain student rosters and logins through all digital systems.
? Qualify, adopt, roster, and implement new applications and curricula as selected by the administration.
? Interface with the administration to ensure an accurate and consistent flow of data between all systems.
? Not primarily responsible for – but supports Custer County School District’s online presence, including the CCSD webpage and the CCSD Facebook account.
? All other duties as necessary and assigned.

? The ability to talk with children, adults, administrators, board members, and vendors about technology.
? A basic knowledge of networking and technological infrastructure.
? Problem-solving skills, and the ability to scale up solutions rapidly.
? Budget-conscious decision-making skills. Knowing where and how to apply resources when necessary.
? The ability to thrive individually – and in ambiguity – in an educational environment where solutions need to be delivered and communicated rapidly.
? Preferred classroom experience, to understand the teacher and student mindset and which solutions work best in a K-12 environment.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
? The ability to lift 25 pounds over one’s head.
? The ability to juggle competing priorities simultaneously.
? The ability to work safely in an electrical/electronic environment.
Qualification Profile:
? Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Education:
? Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
? Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Experience
? Demonstrated expertise in the use of technology to support instruction.
? Formal training (courses, workshops, conferences) in the use and implementation of technology in a school setting.
? Successful experience training others and serving as a resource in the use of technology.
? Experience using a network to store, retrieve, and disseminate files and documents to end-users.
? Software troubleshooting experience.
Starting salary depends on education and experience.
Shift Type: Full-Time; 193-day contract
