The Technical Sales Manager is an exciting customer facing role responsible for managing a technical product line in a couple of electronic and industrial markets. This position will work closely together with Business manager to define and execute annual and long-term business plans. Identify commercial opportunities in the form of new customers and/or new products & sustain and nurture the strong relationships at existing accounts.

This person is responsible for selling highly technical solutions to his or her accounts through a co-development and partnership process. The technical manager tracks project pipeline and effectively communicates on progress and needs to the customers and inside the organization. This position requires advanced technical knowledge and abilities in Product Management. The incumbent must be a technical expert on product applications, technology and design, as well as an authority on markets, competitive situations and product profitability.

This position is based in Anaheim, California where our manufacturing facility as well as R&D team resides. The incumbent has the great opportunity to interact with cross functional teams regularly by being on the same site. This position requires 20-30% travel time including international travels.

Customer oriented and teamwork-oriented mindsets plus strong project management skills are the keys for success in this role. ROLE SUMMARY:

  • Analyze, understand and manage the assigned product lines including product pricing & product positioning
  • Work with manufacturing operations to provide accurate and timely information regarding customer demand to support sales and service objectives.
  • Provide periodic forecasts used to anticipate overall sales performance
  • Establish and manage strategic partnership with key customers for mid to long term engagement
  • Direct project management on customer quality issue resolution in a cross-function team environment
  • Provide input and justification of R&D resources and planning for new product technology and development.
  • Participate and conduct on-site demos of products at customers as needed
  • Collect, analyze and transmit information regarding market evolution, competitors and technology trends
  • The incumbent must have good interpersonal capability and able to work closely with customers ranging from operator, technical and senior management. He/she must have strong customer orientation and to provide excellence customer service.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and achieve assigned sales targets and profitability objectives. Develop and actively manage project specific plans for new opportunity introduction and/or for customer specific co-development plan. Use financial metrics to steer projects and to provide support for development of business growth targets. -
  • Establish and maintain both technical and commercial relationships with assigned customers in conjunction with sales, serving as the primary technical contact for these customers. Translate voice of the customer into product requirements & manage NP process from initial prototypes through system qualification. Develop customer specific technical communication plans with regular follow-up, including travel for face-face discussions, relationship development and technical presentations.
  • Working closely with Finance, Engineering and Operations, develop and maintain standardized and streamlined cost structures. Collaborate with Marketing & Sales organization to develop market and customer specific price strategies to achieve profitable growth. Review on annual basis to update standards and costs to be used in price lists/calculators and ERP system.
  • Key project manager to support quality issue resolution by leading and/or coordinating a cross function project team.
  • Market trend analysis and provide periodic forecasts used to anticipate overall sales performance.


WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 8-15 years with a BS degree or equivalent experience in B2B industry on technical products
  • 5-12 years of experience in electronic industry with a MS or MBA degree
  • Must have experience in Product Management
  • Experience in customer facing and customer building
  • Existing electronic customer experience
  • Experience related to polishing is preferred
  • 70% external facing / 30% internal project management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering
  • MS or MBA Preferred
