Reports to: Special Events Manager, collaborates with on-site event manager on an event-specific basis

Classification: Part-time, hourly, up to 20 hours per week.

Schedule: On-call, mostly evenings and weekends with possibility of during the week

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) seeks a Technical and Event Support Specialist who will perform the installation and operation of event audio/video equipment, maintain audio/video equipment and inventory, and provide primary support for set-up and tear-down of all event related equipment. This position supports internal education and exhibition specific programming as well as external private rental events. This position will communicate directly with special events clients, BAM staff, volunteers, and community partners, and should have excellent communication and customer service skills.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Achieving event set up and operation with public safety and art safety as foremost priority.
AUDIO VISUAL
- Set up/tear down of speakers, microphones, audio console, video projector, screen, spot lighting, accent lighting, stands, cabling and accessories.
- Interface with client & BAM computers.
- Demonstrated experience mixing live sound utilizing a medium format console.
- Maintain equipment in an operable and clean manner.
FACILITIES
- Set up/tear down of tables, chairs, linens, stanchions, benches and other furniture.
- Possible oversight, support, and advisement of rentals
- Knowledge of the electrical capabilities of the museum.
- Ensure museum is returned to open-to-the-public standards before end of shift. May include cleaning event spaces.
COMMUNICATION
- Provide support to clients & events team as needed for questions, trash removal, cleaning supplies, extension cabling and other needs as they arise.
- Communicate with Operations Manager & Events Team regarding event needs.
- Communicate with supervisor about any damage, faulty or needed equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate degree preferred or 2+ years of similar experience.
- Experience troubleshooting MAC an PC laptops
- Deep understanding of Audio/Visual hardware and software and ability to troubleshoot
- Ability to learn quickly, follow directions, ultimately work without direct supervision, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
- Experience troubleshooting MAC and PC laptops.
- Adheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment.
- Coronavirus/COVID-19: As a condition of working on BAM premises, all employees must sign an acknowledgement of vaccination status, assumption of risk, waiver and release.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds above head and 75 pounds to waist height.
- This position has a high-level of public contact.
- This position requires one to work outside on occasion and may work during periods of inclement weather.
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb ladders, and stairs.
- This position may come into contact with a variety of approved chemicals.
- The ability to focus, bend, carry, reach to the side, front and overhead, push, pull, walk, stand, twist and squat, grab, squeeze are repetitive physical movements are requirements of this position.
