Teacher General Responsibilities:
Teacher is responsible for the classroom curriculum and assessments. Planning and individualizing for children based on information and data collection. Interacting and providing intentional instruction for children. Supervision of the classroom assistant teacher and volunteers. Partnering with parents in the education of their children. Maintaining behavior & discipline. Supervising children always.
Required Qualifications FOR TEACHER:
- BA Early Childhood Education or related
- Certified in Early Childhood Education preferred
- Knowledge/experience working with children in a high-quality pre-school program
- Implementation of the Creative Curriculum
- Knowledge and use of formative assessment
- Provide intentional instruction based on outcomes
- Partner and establish positive relationships with parents
- Bilingual/Bi-cultural strongly encouraged to apply.
- Professional telephone manner.
- Bilingual / Bicultural Spanish a plus
CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION
Position requires review & preparation of confidential information.
SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS FOR TEACHER:
- Supervise a classroom of up to 18 children
- Supervise & provide training to classroom staff including teacher assistants, parents & volunteers
- Develop individual plans for each child
- Implement Incredible Years Series curriculum
- Maintain written progress records for each child using the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system
- Makes minimum of 2 parent teacher conferences per year
- Shares family style meals with children
- Attends staff meetings
- Ensure compliance with RI Department of Health and sanitation regulations
- Supervise children at all times
- Implement a comprehensive Early Childhood education program
- Implement a comprehensive system of child assessment
- Analyze data to inform instruction and individualize for children
- Teaching to enhance children’s learning and development using RIDE standards, Head Start performance standards, outcomes framework, and Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system
- Participate in trainings necessary for professional development and growth
- Collaborate with supervisor to evaluate and provide with necessary information/data
- Assist with transition opportunities to kindergarten
- Partner with families in engaging them in their child’s developmental learning
- Utilize the program’s curriculum framework to guide instruction, implement curriculum, and incorporate standards
- Other duties as assigned
