Our client is RTS (Regional Transit Service) in Rochester, NY and they are seeking a Transit Systems Engineer for their growing team. Who We’re Looking For:

Do you excel at analyzing, maintaining, and improving systems? Enjoy implementing new systems, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing issues related to systems? In this role, you’ll have familiarity with a variety of transit fleet systems including OrbCAD, Micro Transit Operations Platform and the Yard Management System and how they interface with Trapeze OPS, EAM, Highline HRIS, ATIS Signs, Automatic Passenger Counter, Fare Collection System, Enterprise Asset Management system, and the Vehicle Destination Sign displays. You should also have excellent SQL admin expertise to bring data out of the database. The position reports to the Director of IT and will be expected to plan, install, configure, and manage all aspects of IT infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure, and cost-effective delivery of services.

What to Expect as a Transit Systems Engineer:

• Monitor and analyze the performance of the OrbCAD system
• Perform troubleshooting of OrbCAD issues, including vehicle/fixed-end voice and data cellular communication, vehicle/fixed-end communication (WiFi), and database/computer system issues
• Monitor and analyze the performance of the Fare Collection System including Mobile Ticketing
• Troubleshoot ATIS Sign issues
• Perform troubleshooting of Yard Management issues
• Help implement new systems and/or upgrades to existing systems (e.g., eVIR, EAM)
• Perform troubleshooting of Fare Collection issues (fareboxes, hardware fare validators, vaults, TVMs, and revenue reconciliation)
• Make requested changes to the RGRTA fare structure (adding or changing passes)
• Provide bus vehicle information and/or pass ridership information to RGRTA System Safety and Security staff when requested
• Provide support for Vehicle Destination Signs
• Strong computer/technological skills, including intermediate knowledge of computer operating systems (Windows, Unix), databases, SQL, queries, reports, networking (TCP/IP, WiFi), and protocols (J1708, JK1939)
• Intermediate knowledge of electrical test equipment (multimeters, scopes, analyzers), electrical circuits, and radios

Qualifications for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
• 10 years’ experience working in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills to decipher challenging technical and analytical problems
• Ability to prioritize projects and estimate work effort
• Excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface with peers, supervisors, and customers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
