Full Time - 40 hours/week
Schedule - 7:30am - 4pm; Monday - Friday
Basic Function: The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries at SRSC, NWH, EHMC, and GHSC. Makes appropriate scheduling changes, canceling, rescheduling and confirming appointments. Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
Duties

  • Schedules appointments and sends appropriate patient information. Make appropriate scheduling changes, canceling, rescheduling and confirming appointments. Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
  • Responsible for scheduling surgeries for Seattle Reproductive Surgery Center, Virginia Mason Franciscan Hospital, Evergreen Health Medical Center, and Gig Harbor Surgery Center.
  • Responsible for obtaining and entering referrals, authorizations and predeterminations on behalf of the patient into the system.
  • Obtains accurate benefits/eligibility information for the patient.
  • Determines and obtains deposits for surgical procedures.
  • Acts as patient liaison with the billing and payments team to resolve billing issues.
  • Effectively works with assigned insurance carrier(s) to resolve referral, authorization and predetermine issues.
  • Ensures a timely, courteous flow of patient appointments.
  • Registration of new patients in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to embrace change and promote team work and program growth.
  • Timely documentation of patient contact, correspondence with patient and hospitals, insurance/payment status and scheduling status.
  • Maintains historical records by ensuring all documents are completed and scanned according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; studying existing and new credit and insurance information legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions and/or changes.
  • Prevents loses by notifying all Finance Department and related personnel of risks.
  • Assist various departments with special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Surgery scheduling experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $31.35 per hour
