Responsibilities
In keeping with the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center health care philosophy, under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Phlebotomy Supervisor manages, coordinates, and participates in all activities of the phlebotomy, accession and clerical sections of the laboratory. Performs and trains and reviews all duties of the Phlebotomist including routine blood collection. In addition, performs blood collections on neonates and infants. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the inpatient setting. Supervises the activities of Phlebotomy and Specimen Receiving to keep the work quality, productivity and morale of the phlebotomy team high. Actively participates and assists in administrative functions to include scheduling, ordering supplies, problem resolution, counseling, evaluating, interviewing, and helps ensure the efficient daily operation of the Laboratory Department in accordance with the Laboratory Customer Service Standards. Demonstrates competency in all aspects of phlebotomy and lab assistants. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, following written notice
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years experience as a phlebotomist in an acute care or high volume laboratory setting. 3 years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting to include training of phlebotomy staff required.
Phlebotomy Certification
Required: Must exhibit strong leadership, organizational, and management skills. Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions exactly. Must be able to exercise good judgment in making decisions where the above does not apply. Must be able to work in a professional and conscientious manner under high volume and STAT conditions. Must be able to communicate effectively with doctors, staff, patients, and co-workers.
Pay Range
$25.25 - $36.61 /hour
