Job Description Summary

As a member of the Student Leadership and Involvement team, the coordinator will collaborate with and advise members of the Memorial Union Board (MUB Board) and the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community to plan and facilitate campus programs and events, including traditions and Late Night Programming..

The Coordinator also supports the work of the Fraternities & Sororities through advisement, program development, evaluation, and other duties that support the advancement of the Greek Community. The coordinator will ensure that services are consistent with the mission and goals of the Division of Student Affairs and the University.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

Core functional position-specific duties
1. Advise the Memorial Union Board (MUB Board) and assist with planning campus events, including Late Night Programming initiatives.
2. Review and approve budget requests for the student programming board, including all internal and external resources needed.
3. Advise Greek life governing councils
4. Collaborate with fraternity & sorority life members to provide supplemental programs/areas of focus
5. Assist with planning and implementing University traditions such as the Fraternity & Sorority Life Awards and Homecoming activities.
6. Support community, council, and chapter-specific events including, but not limited to, recruitment, new member orientation, and meetings with students, advisors, alumni, and more
7. Support the planning and organizing of educational opportunities, including but not limited to retreats, council/chapter transition, officer training, risk prevention/harm reduction, and hazing.
8. Analyze feedback and assessment gathered at Greek programming and educational opportunities
9. Continue to develop and evaluate policies, programs, and procedures for the Greek Community
10. Act as a student advocate and make appropriate referrals to students seeking assistance.
11. Work evening and weekend hours as appropriate to supervise student programming and events.

13. Actively engage in creating an inclusive, welcoming, and professional work environment for staff, students, and visitors.
14. Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to ensure that services delivered to students are audience-specific, timely, culturally relevant, needs-based, aligned with leadership’s priorities and student learning outcomes, and can be evaluated.
15. Leverage relevant social media platforms and other marketing and outreach strategies to promote and increase event attendance.
16. Identify and propose appropriate professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
17. Collaborate with supervisor and division leadership to enhance the visibility of Student Affairs achievements by, for example, exploring and submitting proposals to conferences to showcase effective programs that may be replicated within the profession.
18. Develop, propose, and manage approved programming and/or service delivery budgets based on data and event requirements.
19. Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate approved and assigned student employees.
20. Participate and actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives and strategies and apply knowledge to everyday work.
21. Assist with collecting program data and other evidence to better understand student needs, student learning, and programmatic formative and summative outcomes.
22. Ensure record-keeping systems are updated, accurate, and audit-ready.
23. Submit monthly, annual, and ad hoc productivity reports.
24. Perform other mission-critical and position-specific duties as requested based on operational needs (e.g., all-hands-on-deck events such as orientation, welcome week, homecoming, commencement, and other university traditions).

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Required Experience (minimum requirements)

  • At least two years’ experience planning events/programs, preferably in educational settings.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite or Google Suite platforms (e.g., email, word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, calendar)

Desirable Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree in student personnel or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with fraternities/sororities. One full year of half-time graduate assistantships in a related area can be counted as one year of experience.
  • At least one year of experience planning events/programs. One full year of half-time graduate assistantships in a related area can be counted as one year of experience.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals.
  • Experience advising student groups, including fraternities and sororities.
  • Experience working with entertainment/performer contracts and riders.
  • Experience utilizing online applications and programs for student/program assessment and tracking.
  • Experience creating and delivering engaging presentations for small and large audiences.
