The goal of Karis’s programs is to help our neighbors without homes improve overall well-being by developing long-term positive relationships, finding meaning through education and employment, establishing safe and stable housing, and improving mental and physical health. · Street Outreach Program (SOP)—centered on our drop-in center
· The House—a ten-bed emergency teen shelter
· Transitional Living Program (TLP)—transitional housing for up to two years
· Zoe House— a five- bed program for youth made homeless by intimate partner violence
· Bonnie’s House—five-bed, shared, permanent housing project
· Laurel House—thirty-four single-bedroom apartments with extensive services for our community’s most vulnerable youth
· Host Homes
· Asset House – a twelve single room occupancy shared housing program for adults
Job Description
The Street Outreach Program (SOP) reaches out to homeless, runaway, and unaccompanied youth between ages 13 and 24 in Mesa County.
The Street Outreach Workers provide street- and school-based outreach, assessments and services to runaway and homeless youth in Mesa County. In cooperation with District 51, community partners, and Karis’ broader programs, the Street Outreach Workers invite teens and youth out of danger and isolation into community, hope, healing and safety. The Street Outreach Worker serves as part of the SOP team and reports directly to the SOP Program Coordinator.
Availability
This is a 40 hour/week position. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Primary Duties
· Provides outreach with youth in specific locations in Mesa County. Works closely with District 51, DYS, Public Defenders, DHS, and other homeless providers in Mesa County.
· Builds transforming relationships with teens, maintains healthy connections, attends staff meetings and training.
· Works with each teen to create and facilitate a unique service plan and creates supportive youth-led aftercare plans and documents plan and growth for each youth.
· Works with youth to develop goals and objectives. The four major goal areas are: improve overall well-being; develop long-term positive relationships; instill hope through mastery of skills, especially in education and employment; and establish safe and stable housing
· Oversees coordination of care, internally and externally, and works with community organizations to bring necessary services to each teen.
· Offers gateway services, attends appointments as necessary.
· Helps facilitate employment and education opportunities.
· Develops and updates safety plans.
· Conducts Karis’ Street Outreach Assessment Protocol and ensures that all evaluation tools are properly implemented and that evaluation data is collected and summarized. Ensures compliance with all State and Federal regulations.
· Ensures that youth have access to other Karis programs.
· Responsible for staffing the Fourth House (Drop-in Center) at least twice a week.
· Provides on-call coverage.
· Provide shift coverage at Karis’ emergency shelter: The House.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Training and Experience
Experience in Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing highly preferred. Degree and/or experience in social work, psychology or social services preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities
· Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing to a wide range of people
· Effective planning and organization skills
· Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with a variety of people and groups
· Ability to learn, affirm, internalize and apply evidence based approaches
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

Karis provides competitive pay and benefits. Salary to commensurate with education, experience, training and market benchmarking (CO Non-Profit Salary Survey).
