Appalachian Underwriters, Inc looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team in our Oak Ridge, TN headquarters. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial records for our company. This will include monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reconciling multiple bank accounts on a bi-weekly basis and all balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Researching outstanding items through to resolution.
• Preparing and posting journal entries and assisting with the monthly closing procedure including issuance and analysis of financial statements while ensuring financial compliance.
• Develop and analyze reporting for business operations and budgets.
• Perform audits, ensuring adherence to standard requirements.
• Create new processes to improve financial efficiency.
• Work with Acrisure Accounting to ensure we are meeting financial reporting expectations.
• Other periodic tasks may also be assigned to the Staff Accountant such as the annual issuance of 1099s, assisting with the completion of annual external audits, and other projects when applicable.

​Knowledge/Skills Needed:

• Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel (Excel experience in entering information, copy, paste, moving columns, sorting, summation), and use of formulas including but not limited to VLOOKUP’s, SUMIF, etc. is required.
• Sage Intacct is a plus.
• Experience with current computer accounting programs and reporting tools.
• Detail and deadline oriented.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education:

· Associates in Accounting/Finance required.

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance highly preferred.

Compensation:

· $39,000 - $41,000 annual.
