Salary: Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees
Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Friday
General Ledger Maintenance- Prepare journal entries and assure proper posting to accounting records
- Reconciliation of ledger with accounting records for all restricted programs and other assigned accounts
- Prepare cash/expenditure reports
Budgets- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of College’s financial budgets
- Assure proper posting of budget to accounting records and budget organizations
- Process budget amendments and adjustments
Reporting- Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements
- Prepare monthly budgetary reports for all departmental units
- Develop, collect, analyze, update, evaluate, and submit reports on a regularly scheduled basis as required by the College and grants
Procurement- Review and process purchase order requests daily for budget availability, bid law, and State Board Policy compliance.
- Assist with the preparation of College bids to include preparation of bid packages, posting of advertisement, bid opening, bid tabulations, and preparing bid award letter for President’s signature
General Duties- Perform periodic reviews of programmatic compliance on all grant and matching funds and prepare financial and programmatic reports for grant programs
- Assist individual departments with research, planning and assessment related to the College’s financial records
- Assist in the maintenance of records for college assets, including payments and depreciation
- Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
- Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Fiscal Affairs and Administrative Services, and/or President

- Minimum of an earned Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in managing and monitoring budgets for federal, state, and/or local programs
- Three (3) years of full-time experience in general ledger accounting experience
- Knowledge of standard accounts payable policies, procedures, regulations, general accounting principles, and mathematics
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to understand and interpret vendor invoices, statements and other requests for payments, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendor statements, and inventory control procedures.
- Ability to prepare budgets and financial statements.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both and orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand Grant/Government/Non-Profit fund accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and administrative computing systems.
- Ability to work hours assigned.
- Ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines

- Experience in higher education accounting

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Personal Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns up to two (2) regularly scheduled workdays of personal leave per leave year.
Unused Personal Leave converts to sick leave if not used.

Up to 10 days a year of professional development leave with pay may be granted by the President.

Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA.
