What does a Staff Accountant do?

We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant with a minimum of 2 - 3 years’ experience in a similar role. The candidate will be responsible for significant portions of the month-end billing and general ledger close processes and for assisting the Assistant Controller in multiple areas, with the overall objective being to ensure that the accounting records for the various entities are properly maintained. This includes managing the accounting for a foreign subsidiary.

As Staff Accountant, the position calls for a flexible work approach and the ability to handle multiple and varied tasks. The ideal candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. The individual should work well in a team environment and be willing to help in other administrative areas as needed. They should also be extremely comfortable with Excel. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.

What You'll Do?

  • Generate Customer invoices from source data in a heavily excel based process
  • Prepare backup documentation for raised invoices
  • Probe and address any client issues and discrepancies
  • Reconcile credit card receipts in a timely fashion
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the integrity of the financial statements and associated general ledger accounts, complying with GAAP and company policy
  • Prepare journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations, and analysis
  • Provide accounting and financial support to management as needed
  • Assist with financial statement review
  • Reconcile and follow up on worldwide intercompany transactions and balances
  • Maintain documentation of procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Support other areas of accounting as needed, such as gathering information for tax preparers and Auditors and any other government agencies
  • Preparation of Sales tax returns and responsibility for maintenance of associated accrual reporting
  • Work with external accounting firm to ensure that foreign entity books are properly maintained
  • Perform special tasks and projects as assigned.

What You'll Need?

  • The ideal candidate should have an education that includes a Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus at least 2 - 3 years of accounting experience in a dynamic/changing organization
  • Public accounting firm experience a big plus
  • Previous experience with month-end close process under tight deadlines
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and do what is necessary to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Eager to learn and grow with the organization
  • Strong MS excel skills are a prerequisite
  • Good knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Accounting system experience in Microsoft Dynamics or other ERP systems a plus
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to research and reconcile complex general ledger accounts
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and clients at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain information in a professional and confidential manner
