We design, build, own, and operate anaerobic digestion facilities and alternative fueling stations. quasar’s systems improve the regional environment by diverting organic waste from landfills and incinerators, and processing it naturally to produce clean, renewable energy used for electricity, compressed natural gas (CNG), pipeline quality gas, and nutrient-rich soil amendments.

Summary:

The Staff Accountant – AP Specialist handles all aspects of Accounts Payable functions, including processing AP invoices, Payment Processing and Reconciling vendor accounts to the General Ledger. The Staff Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering financial transactions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Processing transactions and performing accounts payable duties including sorting, coding, and matching invoices as well as issuing, filing, and mailing checks.
  • Verify invoices against purchase orders and ensure goods or services were received before issuing payment to vendors.
  • Maintain precise records of all vendor payments and analyze all accounts to ensure payment accuracy and timeliness.
  • Set up of New Vendors as well as maintaining updated insurance certificates on existing Vendors.
  • Compare purchase orders, prices, terms of payments and other charges.
  • Contact and interact with all vendors and various internal departments for issue resolution and negotiate.
  • Reconcile company’s Accounts Payable module to the General ledger monthly.
  • Understand general ledger accounting as it relates to Accounts Payable and Spend Management.
  • Understand the difference between expenses and capitalized expenses as it pertains to and adheres to the company fixed asset policy.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly submission of CAT Tax, IFTA, Excise Tax, etc., and annual 1099 processing,contracts, ensure implementation of best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier accounts and invoices and proper assignment of disbursements to appropriate cost centers and perform vendor reconciliations.
  • Responsible for all inventory and inventory control over the receipt and disbursement of inventoried items.
  • Maintain monthly spreadsheets for Medical Insurance, Legal Bills, and Utilities Bills and variance explanations on noticeable fluctuations.
  • Responsible for AP Aging’s (with notable explanations) and resolution of items in question.
  • Monitor and guide AP Accounting Intern workflow and final work product.
  • Assist with month-end journal entries and the close process.
  • Additional job-related duties and special projects as assigned/requested by management.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • An Associate Degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a similar position, public accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting software is required; Great Plains experience is preferred.
  • Must have technical aptitude to navigate Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics software with minimal training.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Must be resourceful, inquisitive, and able to retain training.
  • Must have excellent communications skills.
  • Must be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
