Job Summary

Our fast growing, production company is seeking a Sr. Plant Buyer. This position will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to apply their knowledge, learn new skills and work as a member of a dynamic team in a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role will have 5 plus years’ experience in the manufacturing sector, pay strong attention to detail and be committed to workplace safety. Additionally, the candidate for this position will be motivated to grow with Palmetto Gourmet Foods building a career for years to come. Flexibility with scheduled workdays and shift preferences is required.

Senior Plant Buyer Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and maintain accuracy of MRP system
• Generate and maintain PO’s in MRP system
• Expedite, when necessary, the ordering and delivery of direct materials (ingredients and packaging materials) to meet production requirements
• Assist the Procurement Manager in negotiating pricing, agreements, etc.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities by analyzing usage, specifications and various supply options
• Recommend buying strategies and process improvements to the Procurement Manager

· Supports new product development by attending meetings, providing supply options, project management and on-time deliverables

Education and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Business or supply chain management
• 3 - 5 years related experience, preferably in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
• Knowledge and experience using MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, M1, etc.)

· Proficiency in MS Office applications

· In depth knowledge of source-to-pay process

· Experience sourcing raw materials (flour, seasoning, vegetable oils) for production

· Experience sourcing packaging materials including cups, lids, films, trays, etc., preferably from international suppliers

· Ability to negotiate prices, agreements, etc.

· Experience working in high volume/low margin facilities

· Familiar with international logistics, freight forwarders, duties, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
