Basic Function

HF Sinclair Parco Refining LLC is seeking a Project Excellence Senior Manager to lead the refinery in driving and achieving long-term, sustainable improvements in safety, PSM and reliability performance. Direct and implement approved Competitiveness Plan for refinery improvements by providing leadership, direction, resources and support to the Configuration, Environmental, Process Safety Management, Reliability, Maintenance, Inspection, Control Systems, Process Engineering and Capital Projects Visioning Team Leads.

Job Duties

(functions considered essential as defined by ADA)

  • Leads the team’s strategic direction and planning to accomplish competitiveness objectives through evaluating and improving refinery systems and processes.
  • Develop a communication strategy with site personnel to engage participation, gain alignment and garner ownership of competitiveness plan strategies and tactics.
  • Manages the effective execution of approved recommendations from conception to completion.
  • Directs the team that identifies, evaluates, structures and implements action plans to improve refinery reliability and/or processes.
  • Facilitates sharing, discussion and collaboration to ensure appropriate prioritization of plan elements.
  • Establish and regularly communicate KPIs to show and track progress.
  • Ensures the utilization of existing data to develop and prioritize action items (ie. Regulatory, audits, PHA’s, incident investigations, legacy knowledge and lessons learned).
  • Coordinate with the Refinery Manager and RLT to build a winning safety and reliability mindset encouraging a culture focused on continuous improvement.


Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of 12 years project management, engineering, maintenance, operations or process safety experience in a refinery environment which included supervisory experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.

Required Skills

The ability to lead and direct the work of your team. Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office products especially spreadsheets, presentations and word processing applications; strong planning, problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, analytical, verbal and written communication skills are required. Proven leadership skills including mentoring, decision making, and delegation, leading multi discipline groups, and motivating others to stay on task and meet deadlines. Ability to lead and motivate others.


PREFERRED SKILLS:

A significant amount of experience in the petroleum refining industry and knowledge of best practices is preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

Responsible for the direct supervision of several direct reports.

Work Conditions

Office based with potential refinery walk throughs when required. Industrial environment, including, but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks and rotating equipment.


Physical Requirements

Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, reaching or grasping, making precise finger and hand movement. Job conditions may require climbing up to 50ft and wearing personal protective equipment (beards not permitted).
