Speech Language Pathologist Job at Polk County Public Schools
Polk County Public Schools is looking for a skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Speech-Language Pathologist. The ideal candidate would ensure all students who have communication delays or communications disorders are provided appropriate speech-language services in order to receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education.
**This is an 11-month position**
In addition to earned PTO and Sick Leave, you will also enjoy all scheduled teacher holidays during the school year, including Fall, Winter and Spring breaks. You will also have one month off in the summer.

You provide resources and training to educators and parents to help eliminate or inhibit the onset and development of communication disorders.

You maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations.

This will help when you collaborate with district office staff, school staff, and the parents to provide consultation. You inform parents and teachers of student progress. You strive to communicate the positive aspects of the program to the public, in both word and deed.
- are comfortable with change - The education world is always changing. You are able to be flexible with your plans, strategies, and time to meet the needs of your position.
Here's the work you'll do to contribute to the team:
- Evaluate, observe, and consult on each child receiving services
- Collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals to promote success of the child
- Administer testing instruments, as necessary
- Create, evaluate, and adjust student’s IEP based on ongoing progress monitoring and student’s performance
- Follow evidence-based practices to meet the responsibilities and obligations to students
- Provide oversight to Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, per the Department of Health
- Uphold and enforce school board policy, administrative procedures, and school rules and regulations.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet both Education and Certificate/License/Registration qualifications listed below:
Education: A master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders(preferred) or bachelor’s degree and be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Florida Educator Certificate in Speech Language Impaired K12 or Florida Department of Health License in Speech Language Pathology. American Speech Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred.
