Specialty Engineer - Junior (SE1) Job at Boarhog LLC

Boarhog is seeking a conscientious, energetic Specialty Engineer (Junior level, Labor Code SE1) to become a "plank owner" member of a new multi-company Systems Engineering Team responsible for applying interdisciplinary engineering skills in the technical planning, systems integration, verification, and validation, cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for complex solutions or products. Analyses are performed at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.

Location:
For the first three months of contract startup, estimated to commence in April 2023, (and possibly up to the first 6 months after startup), the full Systems Engineering team will initially be hosted in the Sterling VA facility, including being provided with desks, workstations, phones, SCIF space, classified and unclassified network access, clearance crossovers, etc. It is also possible that engineering positions could be hosted in the Sterling VA facility beyond the initial 6 months if desired. After the first 3 to 6 months the location requirement will be relaxed, with various locations open for consideration.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions in the performance of the following:
    • Applying deep domain knowledge in specialty areas of engineering in order to deliver systems that meet functional requirements and are cost-effective to manufacture, test, repair, maintain, train, operate, and dispose of.
    • Researching, designing, developing, and supporting systems and processes that provide for the efficient and effective production of complex products or solutions.
    • Develop systems that are suitable for the cognitive, physical, and sensory abilities of the intended users, and develop systems that improve survivability. Areas range from development activities (design of interfaces, diagnostics, and modular systems) to quality and testing activities (Failure Mode Effects Analysis; Failure Reporting and Corrective Actions; hazard analysis).
    • Responsibilities typically progress from inspection, testing, and analysis support to applying expertise in industry best practices and tools, developing new system designs, and analyzing highly complex problems.
    • Conduct studies to determine the most efficient sequence of equipment, operations, and workflow within a production facility or to determine how product or solution characteristics contribute to effective and efficient manufacturing techniques.
    • Evaluate cost factors and recommend methods for economic utilization of production facilities and personnel.
    • Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects. Includes: logistics (RMA), quality engineering, and manufacturing engineering.
Experience:
  • None is required but is highly desirable. Equivalent experience may substitute for education (4 years for BA/BS).
Education:
  • Minimum BA/BS in a relevant field of study.
Clearance:
  • The position requires a TS/SCI clearance. As such, an acceptable candidate must possess an active TS/SCI clearance or TS clearance and be SCI Eligible, with an SF86 that's current within the calendar year. Boarhog's Facility Security Officer will request and receive the SCI Eligibility determination from vetting prior to Boarhog issuing a contingent offer letter.
