- Valid PA certification in Special Education N-12 or PK-12 required.
- Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Verbal Behavior Programming, and VP-Mapp preferred
- Excellent communication skills, organization skills, problem-solving skills, and ability to use technology to work effectively
- Ability to work as a member of a team, be courteous and able to deal effectively with people, able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Must be able to cope with needs and behavior patterns of children, able to withstand emotional stress, must have a warm, friendly, helpful personality
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision, ability to read, write, and do simple computation
- Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement with student interaction
- Current police, child abuse and FBI Fingerprint clearances required
- Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by MCIU upon hire)
- Responsible for education of students and implementation of IEP
- Work directly with autistic students and teams who support these students
- Assist regular education teachers with integration of autistic support students
- Provide 1:1 training to staff in the areas of instruction and behavior as required by IEP (ie: VB)
- Implement instruction (ie. VB), daily living, and classroom management best practices
- Develop IEPs in conjunction with IEP teams
- Prepare lessons in accord with PA State Standards and student IEP’s
- Participate in social skills groups
- Implement adaptations for testing and assessment
- Identify accommodations and specially designed instruction to ensure student success
- Develop individual assessments and administer diagnostic tests to assess students’ academic achievement
- Provide sensory strategies to students and staff
- Develop Positive Behavior Support Plans
- Implement Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Safety Care strategies
- Collect data and monitor student progress on IEP goals
- Submit quarterly student progress reports to parent and district of residence administrator.
- Work effectively with the teacher assistant and other members of the IEP team.
- Evaluate teacher assistant on an annual basis according to Board policy.
- Keep up to date attendance records and child tracking data on each enrolled student.
- Assume additional duties as assigned by program supervisor.
