Special Education Coordinator Job at Great Hearts
*Start date: February 2023*
Lead our new K-7 Harveston campus! Opening Fall of 2023.
The Special Education Campus Coordinator (in collaboration with the Special Student Services Directors, Regional Coordinators, and Campus Headmaster) will:
- Coordinate all aspects of the Child Centered Special Education Process on assigned campus.
- Ensure that the ARD/IEP process and the quality of programs for students with disabilities are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements.

Great Hearts Academies is a growing network of 43 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free schools in San Antonio (TX), Dallas/Ft. Worth (TX), Phoenix (AZ), and (opening in fall 2023) Baton Rouge (LA). Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree (Preferred)
- Valid Louisiana Teacher Certification
- Special Education Certification/Appropriate Board Licensure
Experience:
- 3+ years of successful teaching experience
- 2+ years of campus leadership experience
- Experience coaching/mentoring teachers and providing professional development
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to prepare appropriate individual education program (IEPs)
- Knowledge of local, state and federal rules and regulations pertaining to special education
- Knowledge of various special education eligibility conditions and the challenges to learning
- Knowledge of curriculum in grades K through 12
- Basic computer skills
- Strong organization and communication (written and oral)
- Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, and parents

- Through consultation, resource, inclusion, and co-teaching models, the Special Education team provides essential support, following an Individualized Education Plan, to ensure each student is served in the least restrictive environment possible.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
