SPECIAL ASSISTANT, COMMUNITY OUTREACH Job at United States Senate

Office of U.S. Senator Gillibrand seeks a personable, dependable and professional Special Assistant in New York City. Applicants must be self-motivated team players who are able to exercise discretion and multi-task effectively, must have a strong knowledge of local issues impacting the five boroughs of New York City and experience working with diverse community organizations. Responsibilities include tracking and providing policy analysis on key issues; building and organizing intergovernmental partnerships; executing government program workshops; representing the Senator at civic and community meetings; writing letters of support for grant applications and tracking grant applicants; staffing the Senator as needed; and other tasks as needed. Responsibilities also include operations and administrative support for the New York City office and Outreach team. Position requires some work on nights and weekends. Applicants should have 1-2 years of work experience (local government office preferred), excellent written and oral communication skills and an undergraduate degree.
