Salary Range: $52,416-77,480
Starting salary is determined based upon factors that may include years of relevant experience, education, applicable certifications/licensure, and internal equity.
Basic Job Function and Responsibilities
Provide empirically based mental health services to individuals, couples, families, and groups to improve mental health. Examination of a diverse array of mental and emotional disorders to formulate an accurate diagnosis and associated treatment plan. At a minimum, services will include preliminary diagnostic evaluations/assessments, case conceptualization and care plan, psychotherapy and counseling services, treatment plan evaluations, crisis intervention services, peer consultation/supervision, and psychoeducational services to clients and client representatives.
Job Duties/Performance Expectations
- Conducts and documents mental health evaluations for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients..
- While maintaining confidentiality, involve patient and/or family in treatment planning as appropriate, conduct interviews with the patient/client, family members, and pertinent others to identify the precipitating event(s) and degree of disruption the client is suffering.
- Develops, coordinates, and documents a clinical treatment program for the purpose of client diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of patients presenting with moderate to severe mental, emotional, or social problems.
- Conducts initial and continued assessments, containing psychosocial histories, for the purpose of accurate case conceptualization and treatment planning for the effective delivery of psychotherapy and counseling services.
- Conducts individual, family, and/or group therapy sessions to address emotional, mental, or behavioral health needs; uses empirically supported interventions appropriate to the phase of the treatment plan and the client’s stage of change, and client’s self-determination.
- Develops a detailed psychiatric crisis intervention plan when appropriate.
- Documents individualized treatment plans and subsequent treatment plan reviews with plan amendments; continued documentation of the client's progress toward the solidified goals including provisions of support and intervention. Additional documentation shall include the client’s response to implemented interventions, client status during each visit, and specific details supporting the continuation or discontinuation of services following each session.
- Maintains appropriate discharge information and conduct follow up on missed appointments.
- Delivers appropriate emergency interventional services with clients including crisis intervention, consultation, resource referral, and education.
- Provides timely documentation, according to current policy and procedure, via the electronic medical record consistent with the services delivered (i.e. evaluation, assessment, or therapy session).
- Promotes a professional, positive, and productive work environment by conducting yourself in accordance with Mercy Code of Conduct. Maintain professionalism consistent with legal standards and professional (NASW) Code of Ethics.
- May be charged with developing, coordinating, and evaluating a specific program or service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
- Master’s degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work - Required
Experience
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor - Preferred
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience at a Licensed Social Worker level - Required
- Experience providing group therapy and to adolescents and families - Required
- Flexibility to alter schedules as needed for client care - Required
- Excellent organizational skills - Required
- Good verbal and written communication skills - Required
- Demonstrates excellent interviewing and diagnostic skills - Required
- Collaboration: working together for the common good of the community - Required
- Ability to respond effectively to stressful situations - Required
- Hearing and visual ability which allows for necessary understanding while rendering professional services - Required
- Proficiency with electronic medical record, electronic mail and word processing - Required
Certification(s), Licensure(s) & Registration(s)
- Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the State of Iowa - Required
- Certificate Course for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i); EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) Certificate Course for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing levels I and II - Required
- Completion of requirements for American Association of Bariatric Counselors Certified Counselor; Completion of requirements for International Association of Trauma Professionals’ Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) - Required
- Current Basic Life Support validation or successfully complete Basic Life Support (BLS) course within 3 months of date of hire - Required

Pay: $27.52 - $41.22 per hour
