YOUR LIFE AS A SOCIAL WORK FINANCIAL PLANNER

This full-time finance position with our nonprofit works during the day.

As a Social Work Financial Planner, you assist our program members in setting personal financial goals and developing strategies to achieve those goals. You collaborate with local financial institutions and career development specialists to assist members in understanding and exploring the options available to them to increase their financial security. Using your vast knowledge of finance, you explain rent incentives and earned income tax credits to your clients. You also explain the importance of child support, conduct child support assessments, and make referrals as necessary.

Additionally, you help clients build assets, navigate debt management and credit building, and address any financial emergencies. Alongside the career development specialists, you fix any issues adversely affecting a member's engagement and ability to complete their career goals as well as conduct outreach to increase engagement. You provide services in a flexible manner according to your client's schedules to maintain engagement and help them complete the program.

You maintain documentation of activities, participation, progress, and completion of training programs in our case records and computer system. Stressing urgency and ownership, you guide clients through a learn-by-doing process during their program engagement. Your hard work helps our clients get their finances back on track, and you take great pride in knowing you serve in such an important role!


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field such as psychology, education, social work, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of experience in finance, financial education, financial planning, social work, coaching, teaching, or a related field
  • Experience working with public assistance recipients, formerly incarcerated individuals, or those affected by challenges associated with poverty
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Covid-19 vaccination

Familiarity with social and human services organizations would be a plus, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. If you can meet these requirements and perform this job as described above, we would be happy to have you as part of our nonprofit team!
