Snow Plow Driver- Per Diem Job at Town of East Greenwich
The Town of East Greenwich is looking for Snow Plow Drivers -
This position is per diem and involves removal of snow from parking lots and/or roadways. The position is on-call and dependent on the weather. Hours will vary, driver will be expected to stay day or night until plowing is complete.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Clear snow from paved parking areas and access roads;
- Utilize equipment in a safe manner;
- This is an “on-call” position due to the variable nature of when snowstorms occur. You’ll be called into work based on needs resulting from snow or ice storms;
- Work in cold weather:
- Reliability and the willingness to respond to work demands during inclement weather is required;
- Performs other related work as required or requested by the Highway Superintendent or Director of Public Works.
Experience
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record;
- Minimum of one-year plowing experience;
- CDL License Preferred, but not required;
- A strong work ethic and demonstrated reliability;
- Be over the age of 18.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Capabilities
- Knowledge of truck and equipment operation.
- knowledge of traffic control devices and procedures and operating equipment within a street and around obstacles.
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, methods in the maintenance of town streets and roadways.
- Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team; detect and report equipment malfunctions; perform the physical requirements of the position in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work long hours consecutive days during storms.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $27.00 per hour
